The stability of discharge in electrical discharge machining (EDM) directly affects the quality and efficiency of the machining process, making it one of the important indicators for measuring the effectiveness of the entire machining process. Therefore, it has always been a concern for engineering technicians engaged in EDM. Achieving high stability in EDM is also a current hot topic of research and discussion in the field of electrical machining. Below are several key points to pay attention to during the discharge process in EDM.
The stability of discharge in electrical discharge machining directly affects the quality and efficiency of the machining process, and is one of the important indicators for measuring the effectiveness of the entire machining process. Therefore, it has always been a concern for engineering technicians engaged in electrical discharge machining. Achieving high stability in electrical discharge machining is also a current hot topic in the field of electrical processing. Below are several key points to pay attention to during electrical discharge machining.
1. The positioning screws on the handle should be loosened to avoid contact that may cause data movement and errors.
2. Do not touch the machine head with your hands during processing to avoid electric shock.
3. Adjust all function keys properly to ensure good slag removal, fast processing speed, low electrode consumption, and high work efficiency.
4. No items unrelated to discharge machining should be placed on the workbench. Keep the machine body clean, and the outer casing should not have any oil stains. The operator must closely monitor the discharge situation during the discharge machining process. After processing, check again to ensure that the moved data and Z-axis machining depth are accurate. After removing all objects, clean the residual debris on the machine.
5. Maintenance and upkeep of the electrical discharge machine. Regularly wipe the exterior of the electrical discharge machine, such as the operation panel and system display. Regularly check the electrical cabinet and some spark machine components for dust, and wipe them if present. Regularly check for dust on the high-voltage panel, servo unit, and spindle unit inside the electrical cabinet, and remove it with a brush or vacuum cleaner while the power is off.
