The technology of using electrical discharge machining for processing micro-holes has been widely applied in the fields of filtration equipment, synthetic fiber spinnerets, computer printer heads, printed circuit boards, star plates for planetariums, and medical devices such as red blood cell filters. This article analyzes the methods of processing micro-hole machining machines.
The micro-hole machining technology has gained widespread attention with the continuous expansion of fields such as micro-mechanics and optical instruments. The characteristics of electrical discharge micro-hole machining include low stress during processing and the ability to control the hole diameter and depth by adjusting electrical parameters.
Micro-hole machining machines utilize the principle of electrical discharge machining to process various high-precision and high-surface-quality micro-holes. The range for processing circular micro-holes is generally from ¢0.08 to ¢0.5mm, with hole depths typically between 1-3mm, and the processing accuracy (for hole diameter Φ0.2mm and thickness ≤1.0mm material 1Cr18Ni9Ti) is ±0.003mm. The surface roughness of the processed surface is Ra≤0.6μm. The processing time for a single hole (with a diameter of ¢0.2mm and thickness of 1.0mm material 1Cr18Ni9Ti) is ≤30 seconds. Micro-hole machining machines can use circular slender wire electrodes or slender flat wire electrodes, and can also use shaped integral electrodes to process circular or various shaped cross-section micro-holes. By combining simple electrodes and CNC equipment, micro-holes of different specifications, shapes, and hole types for spinnerets and various shaped micro-holes can be processed.
However, the processing of micro-hole machining machines is a typical slow machining process, which is particularly evident when processing fine holes, as the time increases with the improvement of processing accuracy.
