Electrical discharge machining (EDM) machines are primarily used for processing various high-hardness materials and complex-shaped molds, including various metal molds and mechanical equipment. From the perspective of EDM machine manufacturers, discussing methods to change the vertical servo processing of EDM machines involves several key approaches: 1. **Improving Servo Motor Technology**: Upgrading to more advanced servo motors can enhance precision and responsiveness in vertical movements, allowing for finer adjustments during the machining process. 2. **Optimizing Control Algorithms**: Implementing more sophisticated control algorithms can improve the accuracy of vertical positioning and movement, leading to better machining results. 3. **Enhancing Feedback Systems**: Integrating high-resolution feedback systems, such as encoders, can provide real-time data on the position of the machining head, allowing for more precise control of vertical movements. 4. **Adjusting Machine Design**: Redesigning the machine structure to reduce vibrations and improve stability can significantly enhance the performance of vertical servo processing. 5. **Utilizing Advanced Materials**: Using materials with better damping properties for the machine components can help minimize the effects of vibrations during operation, leading to improved machining accuracy. 6. **Implementing Automation**: Incorporating automated systems for vertical adjustments can streamline the machining process and reduce human error, resulting in more consistent outcomes. 7. **Regular Maintenance and Calibration**: Establishing a routine maintenance and calibration schedule ensures that the vertical servo systems are functioning optimally, which is crucial for maintaining machining precision over time.

Electrical discharge machining (EDM) machines are mainly used for processing various high-hardness materials and complex-shaped molds; processing of various metal molds and mechanical equipment. From the perspective of EDM machine manufacturers, let's discuss methods to change the vertical servo processing of EDM machines.

Currently, most CNC EDM machines can achieve lateral processing and multi-axis linkage processing. However, unfortunately, these functions have not been well applied in mold enterprises. If the functions of the machines can be fully utilized, it would greatly improve the processing efficiency of the machines. For example, injection mold forming inserts have relatively thin and deep glue positions around them. If the Z-axis servo processing is used for these areas, due to the small local discharge area and large processing depth, there will be unstable discharge phenomena during processing, leading to slow processing speeds. These issues can be addressed with improved technology.

If we improve the process methods and utilize the lateral servo function of CNC EDM machines, the processing speed can be increased several times compared to using Z-axis servo processing. The "corner cleaning processing" of molds experiences unstable discharge phenomena due to the small area of the processing part. By using X, Y, and Z three-axis linkage methods, i.e., oblique processing, we can achieve stable discharge processing and improve processing efficiency.

The above is what EDM machine manufacturers have learned about the methods of vertical servo processing for EDM machines. I hope it helps those who need to understand this knowledge.
