Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) Machine ToolIt is a special machining tool that uses the principle of electrical discharge machining to process conductive materials. Also known as an electro-erosion machine tool. EDM machine tools are mainly used for processing various high-hardness materials (such as hard alloys and quenched steel) and complex-shaped molds, parts, as well as cutting, grooving, and removing broken tools (such as drill bits and taps) from workpiece holes.

Application

With the development of digital control technology, EDM machine tools have become numerically controlled and use microcomputers for control. The functions of the machine tools have become more complete, and the degree of automation has greatly increased, achieving automatic positioning of electrodes and workpieces, automatic conversion of processing conditions, automatic exchange of electrodes, automatic feeding of the worktable, and multi-directional servo control of the moving head. The adoption of low-loss power supplies, micro-precision machining power supplies, adaptive control technology, and improved fixture systems has significantly increased processing speed, accuracy, and stability, expanding the range of applications. EDM machine tools are not only developing towards small and specialized directions but also towards super-large directions capable of processing automobile bodies and large stamping molds.

Classification

1: CNC EDM Machine Tool

Three-axis or more than three-axis CNC electrical discharge forming machine; each axis can achieve discharge machining and can also achieve multi-axis coordinated discharge machining.

2: ZNC EDM Machine Tool

Only the Z-axis can achieve discharge machining; the X-axis and Y-axis are manually controlled and only have positioning functions.
